New Amazing Resorts In Florida

The pool at The Surf, a 55+ RV resort in Palmetto, Florida. We’ll be back next year!

We discovered a new set of properties in Florida by Zeman RV Resorts that we just love. They are pricey however it’s like a cruise for RV lovers. Technically, you never have to leave the place once you drive in and hook up.

We stayed at The Surf RV Resort in Palmetto, Florida. They not only have Amazon deliver to your RV spot, they have the local grocery store Kroger deliver every day. They also have hairdressers who come to your rig! I mean, thank you! It doesn’t stop there, dog groomers and other services such as RV complete detailing and more come right to your designated spot. It’s amazing!

The main clubhouse where many Surf activities take place.

There are daily food trucks and if you want action in these 55+ communities, you will be hard pressed not to find something to do seven days a week.

We arrived February 22, 2023 and stayed until March 21, 2023. If we wanted to we could have played pickle ball every single day the entire time we were there. However activities outdoors or indoors are not limited to pickleball.

This is the entry tower to The Surf.

There’s a dog park, daily or once a week activities or special events galore. I went to a watercolor class every Monday morning. There were lessons and crafts and an Arts and Crafts flea market every Monday, cornhole, billiards, bridge, bocce ball, Bar Bingo, the list goes ON!

The pool was to die for, so gorgeous there was standing room only if you didn’t get your spot in early enough. You check their special Surf app (you become a “Surfer” as a guest there) and decide what it is you want to become involved in (or not), ongoing during your stay as the “message” area of the app is updated all the time.

They had an Elvis night and this guy really was GREAT! So entertaining! He was the entertainment for the Casino Night that raised money for service dogs for Veterans.

Zeman just built the one we stayed in and opened it only a few months before we arrived and it was run just perfectly. I must say, one of my criteria for staying anywhere in Florida is, will I see cockroaches? Yep, that truly is one of my criteria when I head to the warm southern climates.

We are mid-Michiganders and Florida is one of my go-to places to duck out of the dreary February/March time period. I love so much about Florida. The giant monster flying cockroaches, not one of them.

Just one of the many indoor common rooms Surfers could use for activities.

Oh and do not go there with the cutesy “Palmetto Bug” title. I know the Floridian species live in Palmetto trees. But putting lipstick on a cockroach isn’t going to make it any less a cockroach. Just sayin’.

Not only did I never see a cockroach at The Surf RV Resort, I never saw one dead or alive inside our rig the entire time or outside. Probably due to their seven day a week garbage pick-up and fastidious grounds clean-up maintenance every week day.

They are so careful about their grounds that across the street from our rig there were palm trees and I noticed a low hanging wasp’s nest beginning to form. I honestly didn’t expect any action but figured nothing ventured nothing gained and told the front desk about it as I am allergic. Within an hour, that nest was GONE.

Our Levi loved The Surf and made many furry and non-furry friends during our stay! They are a very dog-friendly place!

The staff and I am talking about every single person we came in contact with, was almost over-the-top courteous, kind, accommodating and FUN. They felt more like family by the time we had to pack up and leave then employees of this wonderful resort.

They have 70 sites and your rates will vary according to length of stay, a discount applying actually if you stay longer than a month, and deposits varying also depending upon length of stay. It’s all on their website or call to ask one of their staff.

The resort has multiple large fish fed ponds that have various species of birds around it and these are where the premium sites are with a premium price tag of course. We never saw any “gators” while there thankfully.

They book up very fast so if you want a spot for a lengthy stay, book soon!

We got in before they were even opened and got a great deal on our spot this past year. Next year since we’re only staying slightly over a month not sure we’ll be in a premium spot (the longer you stay the more clout you have with the premium spots) but for now, on the pond or not, we loved it enough to book for 2024!

Until next time: Duty, Honor and Seeing the Country RV Style!
