Oil Painting

It started with needle felting. I entered the East Lansing, MI Art Festival and out of hundreds of applicants I was one of ten chosen in their emerging artist category. That was May 2015, I was 58 years old. I had never had an art lesson in my life and had only started needle felting months prior. It opened the world of art for me so I began branching out with watercolors, then oils, then water soluble oils and found I loved the freedom of finishing a project within hours or a few days. Being able to express myself with oils needs longer drying time, however overall it takes far less time than needle felting and I love to turn to it when I want to “spread my creative wings” more swiftly. This has become one of my favorite mediums.
